Hello,

I would like to know if I can be put in touch with the expedition. I would like to learn more about their work and perhaps volunteer for the next expedition. I am a mountain guide, caver, and cave diver. I've climbed in Nepal and would love to return to the high mountains to do some exploration work.

Thank you,

Hi,
errata corrige, the pit is 495m deep (http://www.caverbob.com/pit.htm). It's dedicated to Fabio Scabar, speleologist from Trieste recently passed away. For obvious reasons exploration will be resumed during the up-comming summer season.
Cheers.

Perhaps it should also be tagged "New Zealand" as that is where the cave is (the divers were Australian).

We are monitoring a winter colony of Miniopterus in southern
iberian peninsula were up to 30.000-40.000 bats get together (and two
70's censuses talked about 50.000-100.000!). This cave together with an
old train tunnel are the biggest winter colonies in Spain.
We are now writting the chapter about bats for a book about this cave (Hundidero-Gato, in Málaga)
Does anyone know the biggest wintering colony in Europe and Northern
Africa? We need some further info about those 84.000 bats in order to quote it.

We are a British Caving Club "Eldon Pothole Club" We have been in Albania in September this year exploring the plateau between Lepushe and Nikc with some success

Shpellë i Madh Ben -380m	wide open and continuing
Shpellë Mençuri -200m	wide open and continuing
Shpellë Good for the Gooski -100m	wide open and continuing
Shpellë Vaso -150m	tight meander and continuing
Shpellë Pitkini -100m	restriction but open beyond

and was wondering if the plateau mentioned above was the same one

Strictly speaking the siphon being explored was not at the bottom, but in the end of accending side branch of the cave (Veselukha system).
