Jewel Cave surpassed 150 miles of mapped and explored passageways last weekend, according to a news release. Three exploration teams of volunteers entered the cave on Saturday morning and spent between 12 and 20 hours underground surveying various areas of the cave. Their combined measurements totaled 3,032.65 feet. Added to the existing 149.55 miles, the additional length means the cave exceeds the 150-mile mark.
