Report of STJ KW Krakow: Kanin 2009 expedition

118924

From 10 to 28 August, in the Slovenian Kanin massif, 10 persons worked from STJ KW – Krakow. The main objective was to continue the activities in the cave BC10. This cave is a great opportunity, to make a connection to the system Polska Jama – Mala Boka. It would become the second top entrance to the system because of its main sequence towards the SE develops directly on the gallery in the Mala Boka at +650 m altitude of the lower entrance.

In August and November last year, thanks to two exploratory trips the cave reached 420 m depth. This year they operated on the basis of the camp which is located at -320 m from the entrance of BC10, a string of extremely narrow wells lead here, which effectively slowed the progress of exploration. This year they reached the depth of -600m, and 1,2km of length.
