CUCC report 2009 – Totes Gebirge 3km of new surveyed passages

Bulgarian expedition in Pirin mountains

They reached a depth of approximately 235 meters in № 9-11 BS system has reached  with a single ranks first in depth in the area. Knot Break Strength vs Rope Break Strength

An interesting article by Dave Richards, who tested rope break strengths in various scenarios.It describes how the knots are reducing the breaking strength of ropes (static/dynamic).8 knots were chosen for testing; bowline, fig. 8 end, fig. 8 bight, butterfly, fisherman’s knot, double fisherman’s knot, sheet bend, and double sheet bend.

Summer Camp in Monte Grigna

From august 8 to 23, in their summer camp, italian cavers extended Complesso dell’Alto Releccio by 800m of extension, and 9m of depth, by connecting a new cave to the system, which is now -1198m,15km with 11 entrances. More here…

New entrance to Coventosa

French cavers connected Torca de la Garma de Bucebron to the system of Cueto Coventosa, the connection was made in july-august, at the depth of around -500m. The depth of the system have not changed, but the length improved to 34km. Original article here…
